Nick Boccia & PMTF

A little about our founder, Nick Boccia...

As a young child, I was interested in sports. Every day I played from morning to night. I played soccer, baseball, basketball, football and track. Speed and power were my strengths. In high school I put my focus into football and track. I would lift weights and run track to prepare me for my favorite sport, football.

When I played sports, I would get annoying injuries such as muscles strains. The most common area was the calf, groin, or hamstring. During a sprint in the 100 meter dash, I collapsed during the race, hurting my hamstring. Injuries prevented me from performing my best.

I had an interest in helping others with their challenges and in 1993 I attended SUNY Brockport and studied sports medicine. During my studies I worked with the football, field hockey, and hockey teams. I was responsible for the prevention of injuries, evaluation of injuries, management and treatment of injuries, rehabilitation, and record keeping.

And so it begins, Powerpoint Massage Therapy Fitness (PMTF)...

After graduation, I studied for my state license in athletic training. There was a gap after graduation to the time of the state test. I decided to work as a personal trainer, at a one on one fitness facility. I used my sport medicine skills to help people get in shape and stay fit. I learned how to work with people of all ages. I learned how each person is unique in their own way, in terms of personalities, medical conditions, and goals. massage therapyI took and passed the state exam in Athletic Training and also studied and passed the certification in International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). As I continued with personal training, I went back to school for massage therapy and graduated from the Swedish Institute in 1999. My hands on training made me more intune with how the bones and muscles move and interact. I learned how the body reacts to touch, which can be very helpful in working with clients who have orthopedic conditions. After I obtained my license in massage therapy, I started my own business, (Power Point Massage Therapy) I still have the same drive and passion as when I first started. I thrive on helping people reach their goals. Overall, I want my clients to function better in their everyday activities, and enjoy life to the fullest.
